This enzyme catalyzes two consecutive reactions in the degradation of 4-coumarate by Rhodopseudomonas palustris CGA009.

Recombinant, His₁₀-tagged enzyme was expressed in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO-T7, purified and characterized [Hirakawa12].

The crystal structure of this enzyme has been determined, but no publication has resulted to date.
